We understand that these are challenging times and KW Rehabilitation is committed to prioritizing your health. When possible and reasonable and at the discretion of our clients and therapists, we offer virtual or telephone-based therapy sessions. For those times when it is not possible to connect remotely, whether it is related to access, functional ability or treatment necessity, we have protocols in place to meet in-person while maintaining your safety and ours.
We follow the directives outlined by the Ministry of Health/Ontario’s chief medical officer of health and guidance from our public health units. Prior to completing in-person sessions we complete a point of care risk assessment to ensure it is necessary and safe to proceed with in-person services. We first screen ourselves for symptoms of Covid-19 using the questions from the Covid-19 Self Assessment tool from the Ontario government. As well, prior to entering our clients’ environments we screen our clients for symptoms of Covid-19. If either party is displaying symptoms of Covid-19, has come in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 or has been told to self-isolate, the in-person session is canceled and the local public health unit will be consulted as needed. If the in-person session proceeds we wear a medical grade mask, maintain our physical distance as able and meet outdoors when possible. As well, we engage in hand hygiene prior to entering your environment and upon exiting. Any equipment, assessment tools or resources that are brought into your environment are cleaned with a disinfectant product on the Government of Canada’s List of disinfectants with evidence for use against Covid-19 before entering your environment and upon exiting.
